Accessibility
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who are blind or partially sighted. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard the Dutch government also uses.
What you can expect
The website works with screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA and JAWS, and you can use it with a keyboard. Every page starts with a link that skips straight to the content. Each page has one main heading with clear headings below it, and the menus have a name in your language. Photos have a description, and every video has a written description of what you see and captions with the song lyrics. The moving images at the top of the home page can be paused, and movement stops when your device asks for less motion. When you sign a proof of attendance, you can type your name instead of drawing it. On the Arabic pages, English names are marked so your screen reader can pronounce them in English. Under Display settings, at the bottom of every page, you can choose larger text, more contrast, more space between lines, less movement, or have the page read aloud.
How we check
We check every change with an automatic accessibility test (axe) on computer and phone screen sizes, in English, Dutch and Arabic. An automatic test does not find every problem. If something does not work for you, please tell us, so we can fix it.
What does not work well yet
Creating an account for My Cultined asks you to tick "I am not a robot" (Google reCAPTCHA). It has a sound option, but it can be hard to use with a screen reader. Information packs (PDF files) may not be fully readable with a screen reader. Some links lead to other services, such as Telegram, Instagram and Facebook; their accessibility is in their hands. In each of these cases, contact us and we will help you another way.
Need help or found a problem?
Call us or send a Telegram message to +31 6 26276817, or e-mail info@cultined.org. Tell us which page you were on and what did not work. We will help you another way, for example by phone, and fix the problem where we can.
Tell us what was hard to use
Something on this website difficult to use, or an idea to make it better? Tell us here. You do not have to say anything about yourself.
